Nuclear Related Trade with Iran Banned

In exercise
of powers conferred by Section 5 read with Section 3(2) of the Foreign Trade
(Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) as amended in 2010,
and also read with Para 1.3 and Para 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy,
2009-2014, (as amended from time to time), the Central Government hereby makes the
following amendment in the
Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-2014:
Existing Para 2.1.3 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14
shall be substituted as follows:-
“2.1.3 Direct or
indirect export and import of all items, materials, equipment, goods and
technology which could contribute to Iran’s enrichment related, reprocessing or
heavy water related activities, or to development of nuclear weapon delivery
systems, including those mentioned below, whether or not originating in Iran,
to/from Iran is prohibited:
(i) items
listed in INFCIRC/254/Rev.9/Part 1 and INFCIRC/254/Rev.7/Part 2 (IAEA Documents)
(ii) items listed in S/2010/263 (UN
Security Council Document)
All the UN Security Council Resolutions/Documents and
IAEA Documents referred to above are available on the UN Security Council
website (www.un.org/Docs/sc) and IAEA
website (http://www.iaea.org/).”
2. Purpose
of the notification: This notification is being issued to amend Para 2.1.3
of the Foreign Trade Policy in order to harmonise provisions
of the Policy with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1929
by which additional sanctions have been imposed on Iran related to its nuclear
and missile development programme
