HS2012 Changes with Effect from 1 January 2012

We are giving below the Schedule Changes in Customs Tariff Chapters to be implemented from 1 January 2012. These are following the amendments in the HS coding and description system announced by the World Customs Organization every four years, the last one was with effect from 1 Jan 2007. The current change will come into effect in the New Year 2012. The changes will be uniformly implemented by practically all countries the world over.

The consequent Department of Revenue notifications for code changes in the exemption notifications should be released by the end of December 2011. In the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act,-
