Amendments in SION

Subject: Modification of SION C-390 and C-1538 under Engineering Products Group.

In exercise of the powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14, the following amendments are made in the Handbook of Procedure Vol. II (as stated in paragraph 1.1 of Vol. I):

A. Amendment of SION C-390 of the Product Group “Engineering Products” (Product Code: C)

i. The existing description of export item C-390 is amended by inserting “without handle or with handle made of PP and FRP or wood”.

ii. In addition to the existing two import items, four more items at Sl.No.3,4, 5 and 6 are inserted to permit inputs as under :-

3. Roving 4800 Tex Glass 4. Resin GP/Isothermic 5. Polypropelene 6. Relevant Wood Blank

iii. Following Note will be inserted at the bottom of SION C-390:

Note: 1. Sl. No. 3, 4 and 5 are applicable in case of Fibre glass handle covered with polypropylene.

2. Sl. No. 6 is applicable in case of wooden handle.

B. Amendment in SION C 1538 of the Product Group “Engineering Products” (Product Code: C)

i. The existing description of Export Item under C-1538 is amended by inserting “PP & Fiberglass”.

ii. Under the existing import item No.4, in addition to two sub – items (a) & (b), sub – item (c) is added as under :-

4(c) PP & Fiberglass Handles i. Roving 4800 Tex Glass ii. Resin GP/ Isothermic iii.Polypropylene

iii. Following Note will be inserted at the bottom of SION C-1538:

Note: 1. Inputs are applicable in case of Fiberglass handle covered with polypropylene.

2. Weight of handle, if more or less than 1 Kg inputs will be proportionately calculated.

2. In these two SIONs (C-390 and C-1538), the description of the export product has been widened and additional import items are permitted. However, there is no change in the description or quantity of other import items.

3. Effect of this amendment:

Earlier export item was “without handle”. Now, those with handles (either of fibre glass or wood) are also permitted. Hence, necessary changes are made under SION C-390 and SION C- 1538.
